The Ohio Child Protective Services Fellowship program aims to build a pipeline of talent into the children services workforce for college students studying social work-related fields like psychology, family science, and sociology. The Fellowship program partners with universities to recruit students entering their junior year to start the fellowship in their senior year so they can be hired at the end of the program. The program offers a paid fellowship with hands-on experience and 120 hours of training. The program requires a two-semester commitment (26 hours a week).
Fellows work part-time at Ohio's public children's services agencies (PCSAs), where they assist with tasks like transporting clients, documenting cases, and making follow-up calls. Students are county employees during the fellowship and gain valuable experience while still in school.
