Ever since 2007, Thanksgiving has been a time for Ohio’s current and former foster youth to share Thanksgiving Together. The event is an opportunity for participants to share their voices, insights, talents, abilities and goals for the future.
Thanksgiving Together welcomes current foster care youth age 14+, and former foster care youth ages 18+ to attend. This includes young people who have experienced kinship care, adoption and group home placements. Youth and young adults are welcome to bring one or more guests.
During the event, participants experience more than a dinner. They are able to network, encourage one another, and share and celebrate their recent accomplishments. They learn information about resources to help them succeed.
The event includes a raffle and giveaways, including blankets from My Very Own Blanket. The hope is that participants leave with more than what they came with – including encouragement in their hearts. This year, early Thanksgivings will take place in SW, NE and Central Ohio.
RSVPs are free, but required. They can RSVP online at: https://fosteractionohio.org/thanksgiving-together/
